Policy violation
Suspended for a policy violation
The name of the issue is the assignment. The email is only the alert.
“Suspended for policy violation” means Merchant Center attached the account to a Shopping rule. Open the account and read the issue title. It might be misrepresentation, a product-data problem, or a restricted category. The email often shortens that title. The fix is the rule it names, not a generic rewrite of the homepage.
Read it in the account
In Merchant Center, the Needs attention area lists the issue. Google’s help on fixing warnings and suspensions says to correct the website and the product data before you request another review. If you are still inside a warning window and you remove the offending products, Google says the account can be reviewed at the end of that window without a manual request.
Match the work to the name
- Misrepresentation: identity, policies, prices, and claims. Start at the pillar page.
- A data issue on products: price, identifiers, availability, images.
- A destination you cannot sell: restricted products.
- A linked Google Ads account that is itself suspended: Google says to resolve Ads first. We do not reinstate Ads accounts. See that overlap.
Questions people ask
The email only says policy violation. Where is the detail?
In Merchant Center, on the issue itself. The email is a notification. The issue name is the brief.
I fixed one product. Is the account clear?
Not if the issue was account-level. One corrected offer does not rewrite a returns policy or a business address.
How many appeals do I get?
Google describes a cooldown after repeated review attempts. The account shows when a request is available. Do not burn one on an unfixed site.
